What is the procedure?

The Defensor del Pueblo studies and answers every complaint filed.

A case file is opened for every complaint filed. After filing a complaint, you will be given a receipt stating the case file number. Shortly after you have filed your complaint, we will inform you as to whether we can be of help or whether the problem you have explained does not fall within our jurisdiction.

If a complaint is indicative of an alleged irregularity, we will contact the competent administration for information about the case and propose solutions.

Throughout this entire process, we will keep you informed of the progress of the investigation and the responses received from the Government. The length of time it takes to resolve a complaint depends on how soon the authorities provide a response. Some investigations are resolved quite quickly, while others may take longer.

Once our investigation has been completed, we will notify you of our conclusions.

For more information concerning your complaint, you can also call the following number: (+34) 914 327 900
