10/24/2016 - the Committee on Justice at the Congress of Deputies (the lower house in the Spanish Parliament) has passed a motion enabling the Sahrawi people to obtain Spanish nationality in two years, instead of ten. The Ombudsman recommended to include the Sahrawi people among the beneficiaries of the shorter period of two years in which to obtain nationality on the grounds of residence.
10/18/2016 - Ministry of Justice Order 1625/2016, of 30 September, on carrying out the procedures for granting Spanish nationality on the basis of residence contains two recommendations made by the Ombudsman that will facilitate access to nationality by persons with disabilities and who are illiterate or have learning difficulties
10/04/2016 - The Ombudsman has asked government and autonomous regional agencies about their plans to include patients with cancer and other serious illnesses in schemes for fostering employment among people who find it particularly difficult to get into the labour market
