The Ombudsman, Ángel Gabilondo, held a meeting this Friday with the Plataforma de Infancia [Platform for Childhood] members, including its president, Carlos López Picó. The work carried out by the institution in the field of children’s rights was discussed, and the desirability of strengthening and strengthening collaboration and cooperation between the Ombudsman and the platform was pointed out.

Formed 25 years ago and composed of 75 entities, the platform has submitted three reports to the Ombudsman. The first is on the situation of children in Spain 2022. Another on the Platform’s contributions to the List of Issues Prior to Reporting (LOIPR), which the Committee on the Rights of the Child will send to Spain in February 2023. And a third —recently updated— on the challenges climate change and degradation pose to children.

Also present at this meeting was the director of the Ombudsman’s Office, Isabel Aymerich, the director of Plataforma de Infancia, Ricardo Ibarra, and the head of Advocacy, Almudena Escorial.
