Spain’s Ombudsman, Soledad Becerril, has extended her “most heartfelt sympathy and condolences” today, on her own behalf and on that of the Institution, for the casualties and those injured in the forest fire in Pedrógão Grande (Portugal).

Soledad Becerril has sent a telegram of support to the Portuguese Ambassador to Spain, Francisco Pimentel de Mello Ribeiro de Menezes, to convey the solidarity of the Ombudsman Institution and to convey the sympathy and condolences thereof to the families of the victims and to the Portuguese government.

Last Saturday evening, a devastating fire broke out which has caused the deaths of more than 60 people and has left at least another 60 people injured.
