The Ombudsman, Ángel Gabilondo, held a meeting on Monday with representatives of the Platform for the Elderly and Pensioners (PMP).

During the meeting, among other issues, the difficulties and barriers encountered by the elderly when dealing with financial institutions were discussed, such as the lack of digital inclusion, an issue on which the Ombudsman has already announced the opening of an ex officio enquiry with the Bank of Spain.

In addition, the PMP was informed of the work being carried out by the institution to demand that public administrations be more present to attend to citizens in their dealings, and the use of clearer and simpler language.

At this meeting, both parties committed themselves to continue working together to defend the rights of the elderly and pensioners.
