The Tax Office accepted the Ombudsman’s approach to alleviating the digital divide

The Tax Agency (AEAT) has accepted the Ombudsman’s criteria and will make it easier for taxpayers over 65 years of age, who have difficulties in the digital environment, to be attended in person at its offices. This measure affects tenants of properties subject to VAT when they have to fill in form 303.

In a letter sent to the institution, the AEAT has assured that, “taking into account the circumstances of the group indicated by the Ombudsman, assistance will be provided in person at the offices of the Tax Agency, for the completion and presentation of form 303, to those taxpayers, over 65 years of age, lessors of property subject to VAT who may have greater difficulties in fulfilling their tax obligations by electronic means”.

The Ombudsman has welcomed this communication from the AEAT, as he has long been calling on this public body to assist those taxpayers who, for various reasons, find it more difficult to cope with the digital environment, and who, increasingly, have been forced to interact with the tax administration exclusively by telematic means.
