The Defensor del Pueblo has received today the CNIS award for the best project for digital transformation, an award that recognizes the work of those who most support the digital transformation of public administrations.

The Defensora del Pueblo, Soledad Becerril, received the award in a ceremony that was part of the 6th National Congress of Innovation and Public Services, which took place in Madrid.

Soledad Becerril highlighted that the institution has realized this digital transformation in order to be closer to the citizens and to ensure that the most people and institutions possible hear about the work and information that may be of interest to them. The digital transformation culminated in a new website.

The new website facilitates both placing a complaint and following its processing in a private and personalized manner. The number of complaints received, ex officio actions, recommendations and suggestions is also available online and updated weekly. Moreover, the website also publicizes the administrations that hinder the work of the Defensor del Pueblo and, in the interest of transparency, all budgetary information of the institution is also available.

This year more than 80 candidates from all levels of public administration were considered for the award. The Basque Government and the City of Parets del Valles were finalists in the category which the Defensor del Pueblo ultimately won.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of administrations such as the Minister of Economy and Competitiveness and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces.
