HEADQUARTERS

The Ombudsman occupies two buildings in Madrid, both owned by the State.
The main headquarters, located at Paseo de Eduardo Dato 31, on the corner of Calle Fortuny, is a four-storey free-standing building with a total surface area of 1,731 m².
The other site, located at Calle Zurbano 42, on the corner of Paseo de Eduardo Dato, is a six-storey building with a total surface area of 2,202 m².

ORGANISATIONAL FLOW CHART

The Ombudsman as High Commissioner of the Parliament for the defence of constitutional rights is made up of the head of the institution, elected by the Congress and the Senate; two deputies, appointed by the Ombudsman with the prior approval of the Parliament; the secretary general (civil servant), freely appointed by the Ombudsman, following a report by the Coordination and Internal Regime Board, and the staff at the service of the Ombudsman, made up of technical staff (advisors-area managers and advisors-technicians), administrative and subordinate staff.

The Ombudsman’s staff currently consists of 182 people.

The institution is staffed by personnel from other public bodies: security and custody of the headquarters is entrusted to the National Police Corps and the official vehicles are driven by drivers from the State Vehicle Pool.
